Emergency services resume at Hardisty Health Centre

June 29, 2016

HARDISTY – The emergency department (ED) at the Hardisty Hospital and Care Centre will return to 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation beginning at 8 a.m. on July 4.

A physician shortage had prompted a temporary change in ED hours during the week.

Physician recruitment efforts by Alberta Health Services and the Flagstaff Recruitment and Retention Committee have resulted in a physician relocating to the community to set up practice and provide coverage to the Hardisty Health Centre, including the ED.

Acute care beds at the site, which were temporarily closed due to lack of physician coverage, have also reopened.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
