MORINVILLE - Laboratory and diagnostic imaging services at Morinville Clinic will permanently close, effective Feb. 1, due to low patient volumes, challenges recruiting staff, and the lack of functioning X-ray equipment at the site. The final day of lab service at the clinic will be Monday, Jan. 31.
All other clinic services remain open. Residents will continue to have access to full lab and diagnostic imaging services in nearby communities, with the closest locations in St. Albert, 18 km away.
In St. Albert, lab services are available at DynaLIFE’s patient service centre and at Alberta Precision Laboratories’ outpatient lab at Sturgeon Community Hospital. Both facilities are capable of handling additional patient volumes without impacting wait times for appointments or walk-in service. General X-ray service is available in St. Albert at the MIC Summit Centre and the Sturgeon Community Hospital. Both facilities have been serving patients from Morinville since local X-ray service was discontinued in February 2020.
These changes are being made as part of ongoing efforts to continue providing safe, high-quality lab and diagnostic imaging services for all Albertans as we continue to address staffing challenges across Alberta.
All local lab and diagnostic imaging staff will be reassigned to nearby facilities in alignment with their respective collective agreements.
