Monitoring Indicators

Maternal Newborn Child & Youth SCN

Overview

Together, the MNCY SCN Scientific Office, leadership, and its core and standing committees have identified indicators that can be used to monitor the performance of Alberta’s healthcare system for our population of mothers, newborns, infants, children and youth.

The indicators are specific to MNCY’s patient populations: child and youth, maternal-fetal, and newborn-infant (including NICU). Work is underway to further define these indicators and create a MNCY SCN dashboard.

Questions about these indicators can be directed to the Scientific Office at maternalnewbornchildyouth@ahs.ca.

Indicators and Comparators

Seven tables comprise the complete list of monitoring indicators (previously referred to as key performance indicators) resulting from a modified Delphi process.

Where applicable, links are provided to existing metrics on the Government of Alberta (GOA) Interactive Health Data Application (IHDA) website. Similar metrics are also available on Alberta Health Services (AHS) Tableau (note these links can be accessed only by users within AHS).
