Advisory Councils

Building a better health system with the voice of our community

Recruitment is underway! If you reside within the Council boundaries for Tamarack, Lakeland Communities, Lesser Slave Lake, True North or Yellowhead East, you are passionate about healthcare and engaging the people in your communities, we would like to hear from you. Apply today.

At AHS we are committed to meaningful and authentic community engagement with Albertans. One of our best channels to connect with them is through Advisory Councils. Councils help patients and families contribute to healthcare solutions and the betterment of our system, and Albertans can benefit by having their needs reflected in planning and decisions.

Engagement aligns with our culture of caring and listening, which results in more patient-centred care, local decision making and more open and trusting relationships.

Please note, as per AHS’ Immunization of Workers for COVID-19 Policy, all volunteers are required to be fully immunized at commencement of their term.

Health Advisory Councils

12 councils represent geographical areas across the province, and bring the voices of Alberta communities to healthcare services.

Provincial Advisory Councils

Four councils advise on province-wide services and programs.

Wisdom Council

This council provides guidance and recommendations to help AHS plan and implement culturally appropriate and innovative health service delivery for Indigenous Peoples.
