Patient & Family Engagement

Cancer Care Alberta

Patients and families are at the core of the planning, decisions and actions of Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) each and every day. To sustain that focus, CCA partners with patients and families in their individual care and through engagement.

Engagement works to:

  • Engage patients and families to help us improve services
  • Support staff to deliver patient and family centred care

CCA works with an extensive group of advisors from around the province who are registered as part of the CCA Patient and Family Advisory Network. Once part of the network, invitations to engage are offered regularly.

The opportunities to participate may include committee work, special projects, panels, surveys, and, review of public facing or research material. Opportunities may be local or site based, such as working with the team planning the new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre or provincial, such as working with the patient education team.

The input of CCA Advisors helps inform improvements in care. The only requirement to join is a lived experience with cancer, as a current or past patient, or as a family member or caregiver.
