Small steps can lead to improved mental health Red Deer

May 3, 2022

RED DEER — During Mental Health Week, May 2-8, Alberta Health Services (AHS) reminds Albertans of the small steps they can take to help themselves and others.

The ability to bounce back after stressful situations can be strengthened when support is given and received. Strong connections with others can help build resiliency.

During this week, the Move Your Mood program has invited schools in Red Deer to share positive morning announcements to help staff and students help improve their mental and physical well-being. A student is encouraged to read an announcement each day – which includes a message on nutrition, and one on kindness – and lead peers in physical activities and a mindfulness exercise.

If you or someone you know is struggling, resources and supports, such as Text4Hope and Togetherall, are available. Visit ahs.ca/helpintoughtimes.
Talk about your concerns with your partner or someone else you trust, or call the Mental Health Helpline at 1-887-303-2642.
