Walk-in sessions enhance addiction, mental health access

April 23, 2024

LAMONT – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has expanded access to local addiction and mental health supports by adding walk-in clinics, which operate in addition to existing services available through appointment.

Adults and youth in Lamont and area can access walk-in clinics at the Lamont Community Health Centre, 5216 53 St. The clinics take place every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, with drop-in hours held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The walk-in clinics provide drop-in single session service for adults and children seeking support for a variety of concerns. From a walk-in session, individuals will be connected to mental health therapists, addictions counselling, and referrals to other community resources for ongoing support as required, depending on individual needs.

Other services available include assessment, individual counselling/therapy, group therapy, referrals under the Protection of Children Abusing Drug Act (PChAD), community referrals and crisis intervention.

Support is available 24/7 by calling Health Link 811, the Addiction Helpline at 1-866-332-2322 or the Mental Health Helpline at 1-877-303-2642, or by visiting ahs.ca/helpintoughtimes

For non-urgent addiction and mental health information and services in AHS Central Zone, call Access Addiction & Mental Health at 1-888-594-0211.

Crisis services are available through local emergency departments or by calling 911.
