Provincial Population & Public Health works collaboratively with zone and provincial operations, physicians, as well as community members, interest groups, municipalities, community-based organizations and other external partners to support people and their communities to be as healthy as possible and to advance health equity.
Many of our programs are directed by legislative requirements, standards or guidelines. These range from overarching legislation, such as the Public Health Act and the Emergency Management Act, to specific guidelines such as the Alberta Notifiable Disease Management Guidelines and Cancer Screening Clinical Practice Guidelines.
Our diverse workforce of public health professionals and support staff are dedicated to promoting and protecting health, preventing disease and injury, and creating the conditions for all people in Alberta to reach their full health potential across the lifespan.
Provincial Population & Public Health provides programs and services to people living in Alberta across the lifespan in settings where they live, learn, work, play and heal with a focus on improving population health outcomes and health equity.
