As of October 28, outpatients receiving cancer care in Calgary should visit the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre for all appointments.
The Patient and Family Advisory Council was formed in 2014, consists of 14-19 members and have been and continue to be an important part of the design and operational readiness teams for the Arthur Child. Combined, their contributions total 6,432 hours as of June 2024.
All members of PFAC have lived experience with cancer, either through their own diagnosis or a loved one and come with unique perspectives that are valuable in shaping the cancer system.
The goals of the council were to:
The PFAC was pivotal in the design of Arthur Child include wayfinding and signage, graphics, the food service model, patient room controls and landscape features.
They also provided input into the design of a variety of operational areas such as radiation vaults, systemic treatment areas and integrative oncology spaces.
