Accessibility

Wheelchairs
A wheelchair depot is situated at the main entrance to the Devon General Hospital. Wheelchairs must be returned to the depot when leaving the hospital.

Accessibility Friendly Features
A number of washrooms, elevators, doorways, and designated disabled parking spaces are wheelchair accessible; bariatric wheelchairs may need to request assistance for some locations.

Amenities

Banking
An ATM bank machine can be found in the main lobby.

Gift Shops
The Devon General Hospital Foundation  operates a gift shop selling reading material, clothing, jewelery, personal items, and more located in the lobby of the main entrance.

Lost and Found
To check for lost items, check with the admitting desk at the main entrance of the hospital.

Mental Health Help Line
Available 24/7, confidential, providing information about mental health programs and services. Learn more

Social Workers
Providing information and education to the patient and family to help support, and connect them with the appropriate resources. Learn more

Quiet Spaces

Patients and families are invited to spend time in our outdoor courtyard with flower gardens located next to the cafeteria.

Spiritual Care

The multi-faith chapel is located on the main floor and is open 24 hours a day.

Each in-patient unit at the hospital has a quiet room for patients and families.

Retail & Food Service

Vending Machines

Vending machines are available on the main floor next to the gift shop at the main entrance and across from the Emergency Department. They offer a selection of beverages and light snacks.

Cafeteria

The Garden Café is open Monday to Friday 1100 – 1300, the cafeteria seating is accessible from 8 a.m. to 6 pm Monday – Sunday.

Language Interpretation

Interpreters speaking many different languages are available to assist you through our multicultural program via telephone consultation. The staff on your unit can make the necessary arrangements.

Patient Well Wishes

As part of our support for patient care and comfort, friends and family of inpatients at hospital and health care facilities can send well wishes via email.

Telephones

Cell phones can be used in general public areas but not in all patient care areas. Watch for signs that show where cell phone use is prohibited.

Wireless Internet

Wireless Internet is accessible for patients and their families. To access, select “healthspot” from the list of available networks, open a web browser, read the acceptable use policy, and select “Accept”.
