Quality Referral Evolution (QuRE) is a collaborative initiative designed to make quality referral/consultation competencies a part of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in Alberta, as well as an accredited self-study for practicing physicians and surgeons in the province.
Do you know why it is important?
By offering evidence-informed teaching and learning resources to future and practicing physicians and surgeons, the quality of communication and standards of practice in the referral/consultation process will improve, resulting in improved access and safer care for Albertans.
Who are we?
The QuRE initiative is composed of members of Alberta Health Services, as well as both Universities of Calgary and Alberta. It represents family medicine, surgical and medical sub-specialities, the universities’ residency programs, and AHS referral and access management.
The initiative is developing best evidence-informed educational resources for teaching and learning the communication skills needed to provide quality referral and consultation. This includes a second year residency training module, and continuous medical learning workshops eligible for accredited continuous professional learning (College of Family Physicians of Canada Mainpro-C and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Maintenance of Certification).
