Parking lot repaving to begin this week at QEII Hospital

May 10, 2017

Residents advised of temporary changes to parking access.

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Vehicle access to the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Hospital will be temporarily affected as parking lot improvements and road resurfacing work begins this week.

Improvements to various lots throughout the QEII Hospital site are planned this year. These will take place in multiple phases and wrap up this fall. All healthcare services will continue to operate as usual throughout the duration of the construction.

Beginning Monday, May 15, a portion of the hospital’s main public parking lot will be closed to enable crews to work on the lot. Some public parking will be made available in the adjoining staff parking lot located south of the main public parking lot.

Traffic control personnel will be on-site during the day to direct traffic to the most appropriate entrance. Signage will also be in place to guide traffic and make the public aware of these temporary changes.

This first stage of construction is expected to take approximately five weeks, weather permitting. Further announcements will be issued as required to make the public and staff aware of any impact on parking or site access.

Alberta Health Services thanks the public and staff for their co-operation in allowing construction crews to work safely in order to complete the project as quickly as possible.
