Public invited to meet world-renowned cancer expert

Dr. Simon Sutcliffe to deliver lecture at Wellspring Event

EDMONTON — The public is invited to hear and meet cancer expert Dr. Simon Sutcliffe at the 2nd Annual Wellspring Edmonton Allard Lecture Series on Thursday, June 1.

The event, hosted by Wellspring Edmonton and made possible by the Allard Foundation, runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Citadel Theatre, 9828 101A Ave. N.W.

Dr. Sutcliffe is President of the Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration Foundation; the former CEO of the B.C. Cancer Agency and Princess Margaret Hospital; and Past Chair of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (see bio below). His presentation is titled The Science and Art of Healing: New Horizons Versus New Eyes and will explore preparedness and readiness to act upon evidence that could lead to improved health outcomes in cancer.

Cancer experts, physicians, patients, families and supporters will be in attendance, as well as Wellspring Edmonton and Allard Foundation representatives.

About Dr. Sutcliffe A graduate of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, England, in 1970, Dr. Sutcliffe's training encompassed internal medicine, scientific research, medical and radiation oncology in the U.K., South Africa, the U.S. and Canada. Staff appointments have been held at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital/Ontario Cancer Institute and the B.C. Cancer Agency. He has been President and CEO of the Princess Margaret Hospital/Ontario Cancer Institute (1994-1996) and the B.C. Cancer Agency (2000- 2009).
