Residents 55 and up invited for Grand Ole evening of fun

FORT McMURRAY – Local and area residents ages 55 and up are invited to attend the fourth annual Grand Ole YMM Opry Country Christmas Night to socialize with others.

The free event runs Nov. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre cafeteria, 7 Hospital St.

The alcohol-free event offers live music, dancing, light snacks and refreshments, door prizes, a photo booth and a chance to meet others. Socialization is a key component to maintaining and enhancing positive mental well-being.

Event registration is not required. On-site parking is free for guests, while a free bus charter will also be transporting guests from their homes to the event and back. To register for the charter, call 780-791-6205. Upon arrival, guests will be escorted to the venue by event volunteers.

About 120 to 150 people have attended the event annually since its launch in 2015.

Alberta Health Services is hosting the event in collaboration with St. Aidan’s Society, Fort McMurray Alzheimer’s Society, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s Recovery Task Force and Canadian Mental Health Association.
