GRANDE PRAIRIE – Area residents are invited to attend a free community information session to learn about sexting, and resources and strategies parents and guardians can use to talk to their children about sexting.

The presentation, organized by Alberta Health Services Public Health staff in Grande Prairie, will be held on May 7, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Public School District, 10127 120 Ave.

Constable Melanie McIntosh (School Resource Officer, Community Policing, Grande Prairie RCMP) will lead the presentation. Attendees will learn what sexting is, why teens sext, legal implications of sharing intimate images, popular mobile device apps, and tips for online safety.

Sexting is the act of using technology to send or receive sexually explicit pictures, messages or videos.
