Shutterbugs invited to submit photos for new hospital

June 18, 2019

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Photographers are invited to submit photos for display in the new regional hospital under construction in Grande Prairie.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is in search of inspiring photos that demonstrate the diversity of the area that the hospital will serve: from the B.C. border to Fox Creek/High Prairie, and from the Northwest Territories border to Grande Cache. Submitted photos might be printed as wall graphics – from three- to nine-feet tall – and adorn public areas, waiting rooms and lounge spaces at the new hospital.

Photographers are encouraged to look for interesting angles, lighting situations, close-up macro shots and other creative viewpoints. Images can explore nature, landscapes, skyscapes, seasons, landmarks, innovation, recreation, cultural activities, stages of life, concepts of care and wellness, among other ideas.

There is no compensation for photographers if a submission is used. Photographers retain copyright to their submitted photographs. By participating in the contest, all photographers grant AHS the nonexclusive right to use, reproduce and modify their submitted photographs for exhibition purposes. Modification includes scaling, cropping or altering the colour of the images as required.

There is no limit to the number of pictures a photographer may submit. Photo submissions will be accepted from June 17 to July 12 at Together4Health.ahs.ca/newGPhospital.

Submissions need to be:

  • Available as original, high-resolution digital photos, and shot with a resolution of 300 dots per inch (DPI).
  • Taken in the area to be served by the new hospital.
  • Submitted by the photographer or with the photographer’s permission.
  • JPEG or TIFF file format.

While colour correction and tonal cast changes are acceptable, photo alterations – including manipulation of the composition and added watermarks or signatures – will not be considered. More details are available on our website.
