No physician coverage in Consort ED the week of June 28

June 29, 2021

Emergency department resumes usual hours of operation starting July 5

CONSORT – The Consort Hospital and Care Centre emergency department (ED) is temporarily without on-site physician coverage this week. ED physician coverage resumes July 5 at 9 a.m.

AHS is working to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time. Nursing staff will remain on-site in the ED providing triage and assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate EDs in surrounding communities as needed.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. During this time, EMS will transport patients requiring emergency care to nearby facilities, including the Coronation Hospital and Care Centre about 50 km away.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions.

Long-term care and community support beds are not impacted.

AHS is grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.
