Emergency department temporarily closed at Consort Hospital

February 7, 2022

CONSORT - The Consort Hospital and Care Centre emergency department (ED) will be temporarily without physician coverage Feb. 7, 8, 10, and 11, 2022.

As a result, the ED will be closed to patients during normal operating hours during these dates.

Nursing staff will remain in the ED to assess patients presenting to the department, with phone consults available from the on-call physician in the Coronation ED as needed. Patients may be referred to emergency departments or other health facilities in surrounding communities depending on their needs.

Patients requiring emergency medical care during this time are asked to call 911. EMS calls will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including the Coronation Hospital and Care Centre.

During this time, the medical clinic at the Consort Hospital and Care Centre will also be closed and unavailable for new appointments. Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7, for non-emergency, health-related questions.

EMS will transport ED patients to other nearby facilities during this temporary closure if necessary.

Long term care and community support beds will not be impacted by the temporary ED closure.

AHS is grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.
