AHS statement on death of EMS paramedic

We are very saddened to report that an EMS paramedic passed away early this morning. This is a tragic incident and our sincerest condolences go out to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased paramedic at this difficult time.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, EMS was called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 39 in Leduc County involving an EMS ambulance.

Three individuals were assessed, and one EMS paramedic was transported to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton in stable condition. The other paramedic, and the driver of the other vehicle involved, an adult male, were declared deceased at the scene. We offer our deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased.

There were no patients or other occupants in the ambulance at the time of the accident and RCMP are investigating.
