High Prairie Health Complex emergency department re-opens

May 8, 2023

HIGH PRAIRIE — The emergency department at High Prairie Health Complex (HPHC) will reopen tonight, May 8, at 8 p.m.

Patient safety and care remain our top priorities and we are working hard to ensure the community has urgent care available.

No additional services at HPHC are re-opening at this time. Inpatient admissions are temporarily paused. EMS remains available to the community and will transport patients to nearby facilities as needed.

The HPHC and J.B. Wood Continuing Care Centre were temporarily evacuated and closed due to threat of local wildfires on May 6.

AHS has been reaching out to families and loved ones of the evacuated inpatients and residents with information. If you have not been contacted, please reach out to HealthLink at 8-1-1 (patients) or Continuing Care Access at 1-855-371-4122 (residents).

All appointments with High Prairie Community Health and Wellness Clinic, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, mental health and public health in High Prairie are postponed at this time. Clients will be contacted directly by AHS to be rescheduled as soon as possible.

We are extremely grateful for our frontline teams, staff and physicians who have come together to support the response across AHS.
