STETTLER – The Emergency Department (ED) at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 9, due to an unexpected gap in staffing coverage. Obstetrics will also be closed from 7 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 8, until 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.
AHS is working to ensure residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time. Nursing staff will remain on-site in the ED to provide triage and assessments to patients who present to the department. Patients will be referred to alternative care options depending on their condition.
EMS will transport patients requiring emergency care to nearby facilities, including Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital, Castor, Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre or the Drumheller Health Centre.
Other services at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre are not impacted by these temporary closures.
Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency, health-related questions.
