Hours change for adult day, evening support programs in Rimbey

April 3, 2024

RIMBEY – This week, hours of operation for Alberta Health Services’ local adult day support program have changed, and a new adult evening support program has launched.

Six-hour adult day support programs are still offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays but now the hours are from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The adult day support program was previously offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on those two days.

The new adult evening support program is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The day and evening programs — held at the Rimbey Provincial Building and Courthouse, 5025 55 St. — are available to local home care clients who have physical and memory challenges or chronic illness.

Such support programs provide home care clients additional assistance to remain living in the community as long as possible by optimizing their level of physical, spiritual, social and emotional functioning. Adult day programs also provide socialization, respite and education for caregivers.

Those interested in attending the programs must be a home care client aged 18 or older who needs two or more services offered in the program. A referral and assessment by home care is also required.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Our mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. Our current focus is on reducing emergency department wait times, improving EMS response times, increasing access to surgeries, and improving patient flow.
