WETASKIWIN – A new anesthetist has brought her expertise to Wetaskiwin on a permanent basis.
Dr. Carol Faid, a general practitioner with anesthesia (GPA), has joined the anesthesia team at Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre in a full-time permanent role. For several years, Dr. Faid has performed anesthesia and provided family practice and emergency department coverage in western Canada and the U.S. Recently, she has been working as a surgical assistant in Kamloops, B.C., while doing anesthesia locums in Alberta.
Dr. Faid is now the third GPA working in Wetaskiwin.
“Dr. Faid is a valued addition to the physician team in Wetaskiwin,” says Rick Wilson, MLA for Maskwacis-Wetaskiwin and Minister of Indigenous Relations. “We are excited to welcome this dedicated and highly trained health professional to our community.”
Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit for physicians across its Central Zone to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
