Temporary change in emergency department hours at Two Hills Health Centre

March 14, 2025

TWO HILLS — There will be a temporary reduction in hours of operation at the emergency department (ED) of the Two Hills Health Centre due to gaps in physician coverage.

Effective March 17, the ED will be closed overnight from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Mondays to Thursdays. The ED will continue to be closed weekends, from 5 p.m. Fridays to 8 a.m. Mondays.

During times when the ED is closed, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care and assistance in redirecting/referring patients to emergency departments in neighbouring communities, or other appropriate levels of service, as needed.

All other services at the site will continue to operate as normal.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency during these times. EMS will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including St. Joseph's General Hospital in Vegreville, St. Therese Hospital in St. Paul, the Viking Health Centre or Vermilion Health Centre.

Normal emergency department hours will be restored as soon as possible.

Alberta Health Services continues to actively recruit for additional physicians to support the community and surrounding area, and is committed to resuming full ED services as quickly as possible. AHS is grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.
