SUNDRE – Two newly recruited physicians are now providing care to residents of Sundre and area.
Drs. Daniel and Isi Eyike, who are married to one another, provide full-scope family medical care to patients at the Myron Thompson Health Centre.
Daniel also practises out of the Greenwood Family Physicians clinic. Individuals needing a family doctor can call 403-638-2424 to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.
Isi practises out of Moose and Squirrel Medical Clinic. Individuals needing a family doctor can call 403-638-4433 to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.
“I am excited to welcome not only two physicians but a new family to Sundre,” says Jason Nixon, Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services, and MLA for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre. “It is exciting to see more physicians choosing to make Sundre their home, serving the hard-working people in our wonderful community.”
There are now 10 physicians practising in the community of Sundre, five at each clinic.
The Eyikes both received their medical training in Nigeria and practised there prior to coming to Canada. Both enjoy exploring the great outdoors and watching movies with their family.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
