Working Leader - Environmental Services

Day-to-day supervision

Working leaders organizes staff workloads, provide direction and guidance to staff, and assist with scheduling, department organization and quality audits.

They are responsible for cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping,spot cleaning, and case cleaning in all patient rooms, staff rooms, and public areas. Working leaders also ensure all duties are completed according to AHS standards.

Duties

  • Clean patient rooms, isolation rooms and discharge/transfer rooms, wash walls, clean floors
  • Use industrial equipment and hospital-approved cleaning products
  • Collect and transport waste
  • Organize staff workloads
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff, assist with scheduling, organization, and quality audits

Make a Difference

  • Help ensure facilities are clean, sanitized, and safe for patients to receive treatment and care
  • Prevent injury by keeping walks clear of snow and ice in winter
  • Properly dispose of biohazardous waste
  • Ensure all duties are completed according AHS standards
  • Improve experience for patients, families, volunteers, and staff

Work Collaboratively

  • Work with other members of environmental services team, administrative, and healthcare staff
  • May at times interact with patients, families, or visitors
  • Work in a variety of facilities including hospitals, medical centres, and continuing care facilities
  • May oversee multiple locations in rural areas
