Patient Food Services Supervisor

Ensuring quality food service

Patient food services supervisors are responsible for maintaining food service operations at sites across the province.

They provide direction to front line workers and ensure patients and residents receive the meals required to promote good health.

In rural areas, supervisors may be responsible for multiple locations.

Duties

  • Lead and mentor staff, while promoting safe work environments
  • Implement food services initiatives
  • Manage budgets
  • Contribute to the delivery of high quality meal services
  • Assist with food preparation, portioning, packaging, and serving
  • May also operate a cash register, make change, and perform customer service duties

Make a Difference

  • Ensure patients and residents receive the meals required to promote good health
  • Ensure food accomodates patient needs such as allergies, medications, or health conditions
  • Ensure food is prepared to quality and quantity standards
  • Prevent food-borne illnesses by maintaining hygiene and ensuring quality ingredients
  • Contribute to patient and family experience

Work Collaboratively

  • Collaborate with a variety of healthcare professionals and support staff, such as dietitians, other health care staff, as well as patients, residents and their families
  • Work in a variety of facilities including hospitals, health centres, clinics, and more
  • Food services supervisors in rural locations may be responsible for multiple locations
