The Independent Living Suite (ILS) is a home-like setting available to all Glenrose patients for therapeutic activities. The ILS is used for assessment and therapy focusing on building abilities for patients to return home safely and independently.
Individual and group therapy activities occur in the ILS and include practicing cooking, learning how to transfer from wheelchair to bed and becoming familiar with technologies that can be used to help patients become more independent and safe in their home.
The suite also provides unique opportunities for incorporating innovative technology and research to improve the function of seniors and persons with disabilities.
Patients can practice setting a table and visit with their therapist or family during their stay.
Patients can practice transferring out of a wheelchair and into and out of bed.
Patients can practice using a stove, toaster, coffee maker, opening a fridge, dishwasher and washing dishes.
Patients can practice transferring from wheelchair into shower or onto a commode.
