Weight Management Workshops for Healthcare Professionals

The Weight Management Adult Community Program offers a variety of training sessions to healthcare professionals on adult weight management topics.

Foundations of Obesity Management

A full day workshop that:

• Provides foundational knowledge on obesity
• Discusses the relationship between mental health and obesity
• Reviews the Nutrition Guidelines for Primary Care: Adult Weight Management
• Discusses the role of physical activity and functional concerns
• Provides community resources for Obesity management

Target audience: healthcare providers who are new to working with patients with obesity or need a refresher on obesity management.

Psychological Aspects of Obesity Management

During this half day workshop, participants will develop deeper understanding for individuals with obesity including: 

• Reflecting on societal stigma and personal bias that influence treatment of individuals with obesity including psychological impacts 
• Considering behavioral and mental health concerns and challenges which create barriers to effective obesity self-management  
• Applying strategies to support self-management of individuals with obesity
