SOUTH ZONE – Albertans whose lives have been touched by cancer are invited to register for a free, half-day provincial symposium, Living Your Best Life With and Beyond Cancer.
Cancer patients, survivors and family members in the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat areas are invited to the Chinook Regional Hospital or Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Oct. 16 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., when video of guest speakers will be live-streamed from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. There will also be local presentations.
Cancer survivors often experience psychological distress, such as fears the cancer will return, and can have difficulties resuming work and family activities. This symposium provides practical information to help these individuals and their families transition back to everyday life, and will address topics such as:
There will also be a question-and-answer session with oncologist Dr. Dean Ruether; information about Better Choices, Better Health, a chronic disease self-management program; and
stories from cancer survivors about what they’re doing to live well, despite cancer.
Deadline for registration is Oct. 5.
This year’s symposium is co-sponsored by Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Cancer Foundation, in partnership with CancerControl Alberta, the Jack Ady Cancer Centre and the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre.
