Influenza immunizations available at Flu-Lapalooza event

MEDICINE HAT – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is ensuring residents have ample opportunity to get their annual influenza immunization.

Alberta’s influenza immunization clinics open around the province on October 23, and all Albertans, aged six months and older, are eligible to receive influenza immunization free of charge. Though influenza immunization will remain available until March 31, it's important to get immunized as early in the season as possible, to reduce your risk of illness.

To support uptake of the immunization as early in the season as possible, in addition to regular influenza immunization clinics (see schedules here), AHS will offer influenza immunizations in Medicine Hat at a family-friendly Flu-Lapalooza health resource fair. This will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, at the Stampede Grounds, in the Cypress Centre Auditorium.

Flu-Lapalooza is aimed at young families and includes a jumping castle for the children, games, dental checks, and more. Please note that all AHS influenza immunization clinics are open to all ages of patients, from six months of age and older.

For complete clinic schedules and local clinic details, visit ahs.ca/influenza or call Health Link at 811.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
