Order of Canada welcomes six associated with AHS

Dr. John Conly was named a member to the Order of Canada.

A physician who created national guidelines on the standard of care for infectious diseases is one of six people associated with Alberta Health Services who were among 105 new appointments to the Order of Canada.

Dr. John Conly, who specializes in internal medicine and infectious diseases, was named a member to the Order of Canada “for his ongoing dedication to antimicrobial resistance and infection control in Canada,” according to a news release from the Office of the Governor General of Canada. Dr. Conly is also a professor in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.

Also recognized were philanthropists who have contributed significantly to healthcare in the province:

The Order of Canada is one of Canada’s highest civilian honours, recognizing outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.

Members to the Order of Canada recognize contributions at the local or regional level, or in a special field of activity. Officers recognize national service or achievement.

Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
