BASSANO – The Bassano Health Centre emergency department (ED) will remain temporarily closed from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., Mondays to Thursdays, until further notice due to a lack of physician coverage.
The ED is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and for the entire weekend, including overnights.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is working to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.
EMS calls will be re-routed to Brooks (51 km), to ensure local residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need. Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Brooks Health Centre.
Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7, for non-emergency health-related questions. Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
AHS is grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and thanks the community for its patience and understanding during this time. AHS continues to work toward resuming regular operating hours.
