Recently recruited physician now accepting new patients in Barrhead

BARRHEAD — Local and area residents now have improved access to primary care with the recruitment of another family physician for the community.

Dr. Adnan Aboudaya is a family medicine and emergency physician who is now practising at the Barrhead Healthcare Centre and at the PharmaChoice Pharmacy & Medical Clinic, 5036A 50 St. He is now accepting patients and can be reached at 780-674-2221. Dr. Aboudaya joins a team of 11 other family medicine physicians in the community.

“Dr. Aboudaya brings a wealth of knowledge to Barrhead,” says Glenn Van Dijken, MLA for Athabasca-Barrhead-Westlock. “With over 10 years of experience in family and emergency medicine, he will be a valued addition to the community and surrounding areas.”

Dr. Aboudaya is a graduate of the Tripoli University Medical Center in Libya and practised in that facility’s Department of Emergency and Family Medicine in 2011. He comes to Barrhead from his position in Tripoli.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit for physicians across northern Alberta to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.
