GRANDE PRAIRIE – During Mental Health Week (May 1-7), Alberta Health Services (AHS) is reminding Albertans the steps they can take towards positive mental health.

One in five Canadians experience a mental illness or mental health issue. Mental health impacts how we feel, think and act. It also determines how we handle stress. We all can struggle but know there is help. AHS is here for you.

Resources such as Text4Hope, or courses such as the Wellness Exchange and Transform Your Stress are available to help. Visit Help in Tough Times for more information. If you need more help, call the Mental Health Help Line at 1-877-303-2642, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Grande Prairie area is recognizing Mental Health Week through the following events:

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Our mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. Our current focus is on reducing emergency department wait-times, improving EMS response times, increasing access to surgeries, and improving patient flow.
