WAINWRIGHT – Patients and visitors to the Wainwright Health Centre are being asked to reserve the emergency department (ED) entrance for emergency patients only.
Starting July 3, most visitors to the hospital – including those coming for X-rays or lab tests – should use the main entrance, located at the south doors on 6 Ave.
Only those individuals needing the ED should enter the hospital through the ED entrance. During the overnight hours from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., visitors must press the buzzer at the ED doors to speak to security to gain entrance.
Both entrances have identifying signage.
During the height of the pandemic, patients with X-ray and lab appointments were permitted to enter and register at the ED entrance; however, the site is making the change to direct all but emergency patients to the main entrance after experiencing unnecessary congestion in the ED area.
