BONNYVILLE — Local and area residents now have improved access to primary care with the recruitment of another family physician for the community. Dr. Sonia Andeel is a family medicine physician with obstetric surgical skills who is now practising at the Bonnyville Medical Clinic and Bonnyville Healthcare Centre. Dr. Andeel joins a team of 22 other family medicine physicians in the community.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr. Andeel to Bonnyville,” says Scott Cyr, MLA for Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul. “I’m happy to have a new family medicine physician accepting new patients in the community. Family medicine physicians are an important part of a person’s healthcare team as they are often a patient’s first point of contact. She’s a great addition to our local care team and her additional skills in obstetrics are a valuable asset to local families.”

Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Andeel comes to Bonnyville from Edmonton. She completed her medical training and residency in Pakistan.

Dr. Andeel, her husband and their four children are looking forward to learning more about their new community. “I am looking forward to meeting new people and gaining new experiences, as well as building a good rapport with the community and playing my role for community services,” she says. “I am excited for a new peaceful environment, and educational and recreational opportunities for my children.”
