BLACKFALDS – A new family physician is now available to provide care to residents in Blackfalds and central Alberta.

Dr. Oghenekome Isuosuo is working out of Apollo Health Centre in Blackfalds, as well as Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, and Delburne Medical Centre. Dr. Isuosuo previously practised in Nigeria and Coronation after receiving her medical education at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Dr. Isuosuo is now accepting new patients and can be reached at 587-797-4088.

“This is wonderful news for patients in both Blackfalds and central Alberta,” says Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health and MLA for Red Deer-North. “The recruitment of physicians such as Dr. Isuosuo will help ensure timely access to services for people throughout the region.”

“Red Deer is the third largest city in the best province in Canada,” adds Jason Stephan, MLA for Red Deer-South. “It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community.”

She will join three physicians in serving the community and surrounding areas.

“Red Deer and its environs are beautiful and well equipped with all essentials for a healthy career as well as raising a healthy family,” says Dr. Isuosuo, whose interests include golfing, cycling, hiking and soccer, with a special interest in wildlife and nature.

AHS continues to recruit for physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs.

AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
