10 physicians join North Zone in last three months of 2023

GRANDE PRAIRIE — Ten newly recruited physicians joined the North Zone of Alberta Health Services in the last three months of 2023, enhancing care for many northern communities. 

These newly recruited physicians have diverse specialties (see below), helping to ensure the varied healthcare needs of northern Alberta residents continue to be met. 

“We are excited to welcome these exceptional physicians to northern Alberta,” says Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health. “Their dedication to patient care and their diverse backgrounds will undoubtedly contribute to providing the highest level of healthcare services to Albertans.” 

Newly recruited physicians (and their specialties) starting practising in the following communities between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023:

They will complement our existing teams and further strengthen our ability to provide comprehensive and personalized care.” 

AHS continues to recruit for physicians across northern Alberta to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.
