EDSON — A newly recruited family physician is now practising at the local healthcare centre and in the community, improving access to care for local and area residents.
Dr. Tochukwu Gideon Anizoba is a family medicine physician with a sub-speciality in low-risk obstetrics. He is now practising at the Edson Healthcare Centre and the Edson Medical Centre. Along with working at the community clinic, he is supporting the local emergency room, inpatient and outpatient services, and long-term care.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr. Anizoba to Edson,” says Martin Long, MLA for West Yellowhead. “We know his arrival will have a positive impact to local healthcare services and to our community as a whole.”
Dr. Anizoba received his medical training at the University of Benin, in Nigeria, and completed his residency in South Africa. He now lives in Edson and is joined here by his wife and their
13-year-old son.
“Dr. Anizoba is a great addition to the medical team in Edson,” says Dr. Jane Ojedokun, Zone Medical Director in the North Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS). “His family medicine and obstetrics skills bring a unique and invaluable combination of expertise to patient care.”
Outside of work, Dr. Anizoba says he enjoys watching soccer, and going camping and on road trips with his family. He says he is looking forward to participating in activities in the community.
