Emergency Department hours increase at Two Hills Health Centre

January 3, 2025

TWO HILLS – The Emergency Department at Two Hills Health Centre is increasing its hours as part of AHS’ efforts to return to full time coverage. Effective January 6, 2025, the ED will be open 24 hours from Monday to Thursday and until 5 p.m. on Fridays. The ED will continue to be closed weekends, from 5 p.m. Fridays to 8 a.m. Mondays.

During times when the ED is closed, nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department, providing assistance in redirecting/referring patients to alternate emergency departments in neighbouring communities, or other appropriate levels of service, as needed.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency during these times. EMS will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Vegreville, St. Therese Hospital in St. Paul, the Viking Health Centre, or Vermilion Health Centre.

Local residents requiring lab work are asked to please book appointments in advance by calling 1-877-702-4486 or online at www.albertaprecisionlabs.ca to ensure they can be seen on their desired dates. Patients with booked appointments are always seen first, followed by walk-in appointments as time permits.

Emergency department hours will expand in Two Hills as soon as possible. AHS is committed to resuming full ED services for the community and surrounding area.
