MAYERTHORPE – Parking lot improvements and upgrades to entrances and sidewalks will soon begin at the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre.
Asphalt resurfacing and concrete work around the healthcare centre is taking place this summer. Work is expected to begin the first week of June and the project is expected to be finished by the end of August, weather permitting.
The healthcare centre, including the emergency department, will remain open and accessible to the public throughout construction. Traffic control personnel will be on-site during the day to direct traffic to the most appropriate entrance. Signage will also be in place to guide traffic and make the public aware of these temporary changes.
The $1-million project will be completed in several phases, beginning with the removal and replacement of exterior structural concrete stoops. The project also includes removal and replacement of asphalt in the north parking area and main service entrance drive, as well as removal and replacement of the concrete floor slabs at the main entrance vestibule and the long-term care entrance vestibule.
Alberta Health Services thanks the public and staff for their understanding and co-operation while this work is underway.
