Road work date set for Ponoka Hospital project

July 9, 2025

PONOKA – A road closure will take place beginning July 14 on 59 St. at 59 Ave. as part of ongoing construction at Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre.

The closure — expected to last for two to three weeks — is required for crews to connect underground water utilities related to the project that is expanding and upgrading the surgical department. The $15.3-million project, funded by the Alberta government, also involves building an addition onto the northwest corner of the hospital to house a relocated and modernized medical device reprocessing department.

Pedestrians and drivers are asked to move safely through the area and be mindful of all signage and work crews. There will be no disruption to accessing the hospital at this time although visitors may experience noise and vibrations due to construction.
