TWO HILLS – A newly recruited family physician is providing care to residents in Two Hills and area.
Dr. Ogechukwu Chukwuma works out of the Two Hills Medical Clinic and Two Hills Health Centre. Individuals needing a family doctor can call 780-657-3337 to inquire about a meet-and-greet appointment.
“Access to physicians like Dr. Chukwuma is good news for the community of Two Hills,” says Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk, MLA for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville and Parliamentary Secretary for Settlement Services and Ukrainian Evacuees. “Rural physicians are key to supporting and growing rural Alberta.”
Dr. Chukwuma received his medical education in Nigeria and practised there at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, prior to arriving in Canada.
He is the fourth physician to join the Two Hills team and will be working in clinic, acute care, the emergency department and continuing care.
“I love working in a rural area, and I was attracted by the peaceful, quiet environment around Two Hills,” says Dr. Chukwuma, who enjoys reading novels and travelling in his free time.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
Alberta Health Services provides a range of healthcare services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Our mission is to provide excellent, patient-focused healthcare that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. Our current focus is on reducing emergency department wait times, improving EMS response times, increasing access to surgeries, and improving patient flow.
