CALGARY – Alberta’s health agencies are once again turning parking tickets into holiday cheer. Starting today, Parking Services across Alberta Health Services, Primary Care Alberta, Acute Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta (AHS) and Recovery Alberta will accept new, unwrapped toy donations as an alternative to paying recently issued parking tickets.
“This campaign is all about bringing joy to kids across Alberta,” says Nick Ternovatsky, Director of Parking for AHS. “Every toy donated reflects the generosity in our communities and it’s inspiring to see how much people care.”
More than 1,150 toys were donated provincewide through the program last year.
Eligible tickets must have been issued between Nov. 7 and Dec. 19. Toys must:
Toys can be dropped off at any participating parking office during regular business hours until Dec. 19. All donated toys will be distributed to hospitals and local charities across Alberta to support children and families during the holiday season.
“Albertans are generous, especially when kids are involved,” says Ternovatsky. “By working together across all health agencies, we’re giving people a simple and joyful way to give back while helping brighten the season for young patients and families in our communities.”
Suggested donations include books, art-and-craft kits, building sets, board games, dolls and action figures, sports balls, headphones, small electronics, journals, activity books, and gift cards for grocery stores and restaurants to support families.
