New Stollery surgery clinic supports growing need, built with families in mind

The new space includes updated clinic and procedure rooms, spaces for rehabilitation and radiology, new medical equipment, and a welcoming, kid-friendly environment.

A new Pediatric Surgery Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital is bringing specialized surgical services together in one purpose-built space for kids and families.

The new space includes updated clinic and procedure rooms, spaces for rehabilitation and radiology, new medical equipment, and a welcoming, kid-friendly reception and waiting area – which is more than double the size of that space in the previous clinic.

The Pediatric Surgery Clinic serves children and families across the largest pediatric catchment area in North America, with up to 275 patient visits each day and more than 28,000 visits annually. The demand for specialized pediatric surgical care continues to grow.

The new clinic will be able to accommodate that growth. The number of clinic rooms has increased from 14 to 23 flexible clinic and procedure rooms, along with expanded diagnostic, rehabilitation and procedure spaces, and enhanced opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration.

The new Pediatric Surgery Clinic is located on the fifth floor of the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. The build was made possible through a $13.8-million investment from donors through the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, along with $4.85 million from the Government of Alberta to support key infrastructure.
