Every day 43 Albertans learn they have cancer; that number is expected to grow to more than 70 new cases daily by 2030, according to CancerControl Alberta.

A two-time cancer survivor at 44, Dr. Nigel Brockton, a Research Scientist with Cancer Control Alberta, will lead his team, One Aim, on the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer this Aug. 8 and 9Numbers like these inspire both the Tom Baker Cancer Conquerors and One Aim teams to ride again in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer this Aug. 8 and 9 on behalf of the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF).

The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised more than $42.6 M for the Alberta Cancer Foundation since 2009. Together, these two teams have raised more than $2.75 million since 2010.

Cycling the 240-km round trip from Canada Olympic Park through the Alberta foothills, both teams of 130 riders each are pushing themselves hard on their mission to achieve a cancer-free future.

It’s a future that Myka Osinchuk, CEO of the Alberta Cancer Foundation, is equally committed to — as she ensures donor dollars deliver improved treatment, survival and quality of life.

“At the Alberta Cancer Foundation, enhancing the lives of patients and their families is at the core of everything we do,” says Osinchuk. “Funds raised through the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer have allowed the Alberta Cancer Foundation to push the pace of progress, ignite innovative research and implement leading-edge treatments.”

“As Alberta’s largest health foundation and largest non-government investor in cancer research, the Alberta Cancer Foundation also works in partnership with Alberta Health Services by providing resources to all 17 Cancer centres in Alberta, including the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.”
