Celebrating Our Success 2012 & Beyond

Every year, the employees, physicians and volunteers of Alberta Health Services raise the bar for improving patient care and health services, and 2012 was no exception.

Thanks to the dedication of our workforce, use of innovative research and technology, and our drive to seek out new and better ideas from across the organization, we have achieved an enormous amount in the last 12 months. Our successes include:

• Offering improved care and new treatment options to Albertans
• Improving access to services and programs - and adding new ones
• Recruiting new family physicians and specialists to rural and urban communities
• Launching Strategic Clinical Networks
• Making decisions closer to where care is delivered
• Listening to residents about care delivery in their communities and acting on what we heard
• Making more information, including ED wait times and care options, available to the public
• Adding new beds and clinic space across the province
• Expanding seniors care and living options
• Working with foundations to support enhanced patient care
• Focusing on our values and fostering improved workforce engagement
• Moving to common systems to find efficiencies
• Embracing research and pursuing innovation
• Focusing on workforce planning today to provide care tomorrow
