EDMONTON – Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the United Nurses of Alberta (UNA) have concluded negotiations for a new collective agreement that supports quality patient care now and into the future.
The four-year agreement will provide stability in health care and help to create more predictable schedules for nurses.
“The ratification of a new collective agreement is a positive outcome for all parties – nurses, patients and their families, and all AHS employees, who are partners in the delivery of quality health care,” said Vickie Kaminski, President and CEO, Alberta Health Services.
The four-year agreement includes salary increases in the second, third and fourth years, along with lump sum payments. The contract is effective April 1, 2013, and runs to March 31, 2017.
This agreement will also see the implementation of a consolidated benefit plan for AHS Nurses effective January 1, 2015.

The contract sets out terms and conditions for the 26,000 Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who care for Albertans in the province’s major hospitals and in AHS’s facilities, programs and services.
