Media Statement - Royal Alexandra Hospital ED reopening

September 22, 2014

Alberta Health Services is reopening the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) Emergency Department, effective 11 a.m. today.

The ED had been temporarily closed to new patients as a precaution while a patient was being assessed. The patient assessment has confirmed that the patient is not considered at risk of Ebola virus nor does this patient present a risk to other patients or staff.

The RAH ED was closed as a precautionary measure, ensuring patient and staff health was proactively protected while additional screening and disinfection steps were taken.

Patients and staff can be assured that they are not at risk for Ebola virus.

The ED is safe, and presents no risk to public, staff or patient health. We thank all staff for the efficient and proactive diligence, as always.
